General Miljavac: Indictments from BiH are dangerous, they change the course of history, Croatia appears as an aggressor

-Indictments from Sarajevo against members of the HV and HVO are even more dangerous than indictments from Serbia. There are more than 900 of them. I am among them, along with five or six other Croatian generals, reveals General Pavao Miljavac, president of the Croatian Generals' Council and one of the main commanders of the operation that liberated almost all of Croatia 21 years ago, in a major interview with Globus on the occasion of the anniversary of the military-police operation Storm, reports the Patria News Agency.

General Miljavac warns of the "absurdity and shock of the indictments filed against Croatian defenders by the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, about which our public knows nothing.".

"It is dangerous and unacceptable that many of them come with the preamble 'was a member of a joint criminal enterprise with the aim of expelling the Muslim population with the help of the Republic of Croatia, Tuđman, Šušak', they speak of inhumane treatment, and they have no concrete evidence. This does not even concern firm command responsibility. This is dangerous for the Republic of Croatia as well, because the course of history is being changed, it appears that you were an aggressor, which is not true," says Miljavac.

As a man and as a high-ranking military commander responsible for the liberation of not only Croatia but also a large part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he is outraged by the accusations:

"It is absurd that I fought for this country and held high positions and never did anything against the laws and customs of warfare, and they in Sarajevo are now inventing, I saw specifically concerning me, command responsibility for two killed and one wounded soldier in Bosanska Dubica. When, how?" asks the decorated general.

"I would like to note that there is a large number of indictments from BiH against Croatian defenders. This is not just a legal issue, it is primarily a political one. You cannot convict someone just because they were a member of the HVO or HV. There was no aggression there," the general firmly states and warns: "If they seriously pursue these indictments, the Croatian authorities will not be able to ignore them."

In the interview, Pavao Miljavac also speaks in detail about the indictments from Serbia, the controversial Serbian law on universal jurisdiction, and the possible halting of both Serbia and BiH on their path to the European Union. He also recalls the glorious days of Storm and reveals what he discussed in private with President Franjo Tuđman just a few hours before the operation.
