Fascists Embarrassed Croatia Before the Whole World

The interruption of the match due to flares from Croatian fans dominates the reports of world media about the encounter in Milan, and Italians generally agree that Croatia looked better on the field and that Conte's team showed some absences, writes index.hr. Patria reports.

Panic lasted for several minutes

Gazzetta highlighted the events from the stands of San Siro in a special article titled: "The shame of the fans at San Siro." "Fireworks and smoke bombs stopped the game for 10 minutes, panic lasted for several minutes," the text reads, among other things. Regarding the match itself, they point out Buffon's mistake in Croatia's equalizing goal.

Negative tradition against Croatia confirmed

"Lukewarm Italy confirmed its negative tradition against Croatia," writes Corriere dello sport, also condemning the behavior of Croatian fans in the stands. "Once again, we have become hostages of a small group of uncivilized idiots who came from afar."

"Azzurri stopped at San Siro" is the headline from La Repubblica.

"No poker of victories, but Conte remains undefeated," writes Rai, adding: "The absences were felt among the Azzurri, it wasn't a great Italy."

Sky Sports writes that the riots by Croatian fans must not go unpunished.

"How could they bring flares into the stadium? Once again, we have become hostages of a small group of uncivilized idiots who came from afar. This cannot be compared to what Serbian hooligans did in Genoa, but we are left with an unbearable feeling of helplessness."

Croatia dominated

The match played in Milan is also on the front page of Eurosport, which states: "Croatian fans almost completely interrupted the match."

"It ended 1-1 after a beautiful shot by Candreva and a mistake by Buffon, who allowed Perišić's shot to go under him into the net," they state, concluding: "Croatia dominated most of the match against Italy, which was missing a number of key players."

Daily Mail called Mamić the head of Dinamo from Belgrade, Spaniards worried about Modrić

British Daily Mail made a big mistake in an article titled "Riots in Milan: Police entered the stands, and firefighters extinguished flares during the interruption of the match due to the rampage of Croatian fans," in which they called Zdravko Mamić the head of Dinamo from Belgrade.

Spanish media such as Marca and Mundo Deportivo write that the events from the stands of San Siro are shameful, and that the most radical Croatian fans have embarrassed themselves, but they are much more interested in the severity of Luka Modrić's injury, who left the match in the first half. Madrid's As writes with concern that the Croatian midfielder could be sidelined for three to five weeks.

Serbs ask: How will UEFA punish Croatia?

The media in the region also paid a lot of attention to the riots at San Siro. Serbian Press asks "how UEFA will punish Croatia now," while Bosnian SportSport writes that "the great match of the Vatreni in Croatia was spoiled by the fans."
