In Banja Luka, MPs of the National Assembly of RS will consider the Proposal of the Decision on calling a referendum on the Day of the Republic at a special session, writes the Patria News Agency.
It is proposed that the referendum be held on September 25. Just seven days before the local elections.
The referendum is an opportunity, primarily for Milorad Dodik, to homogenize Serbs, and for the referendum results to serve him as the main asset for winning votes.
Along with, of course, the inevitable story about his own census results, in which he will erase at least 200,000 Bosniaks with an eraser, and platitudes about how they (some) wanted to deceive them and impose false data on the number of inhabitants in RS.
No one will recognize Dodik's census results, but they will be useful for pre-election stories in a month. There will be plenty of votes. It is known what always works with a hungry people, nationalist rhetoric that the abolition of the Day of the Republic is intended to abolish RS, and that the census was falsified.
And when you are hungry, you are not yourself. And when empty stomachs go to vote, it doesn't matter if they will have regular pensions after the elections, if unemployment will decrease, if the economic situation will improve. What matters is homogenization and the preservation of "Serbdom" on October 2nd.
Holding a referendum is not in question when it comes to political parties of RS, but it is for the Domovina Coalition. However, this will not prevent the adoption of the decision to hold it. Nor will any veto that Bosniaks and Croats will file in the House of Peoples of RS.
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić said in Belgrade during talks with the President of RS that he was satisfied that the relevant political actors had agreed on the date of the referendum in Republika Srpska and that EU representatives could not find fault with the referendum question, which relates to the date of marking the Day of RS.
Thus, Vučić, to whom Dodik went for his opinion, also approved the holding of the referendum, and once again showed that he, as an official of a neighboring country, does not respect the decisions of the highest judicial institution of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Vučić also showed this when he came to Banja Luka on January 9th this year to mark the unconstitutional holiday.
No one has anything against Vučić helping Dodik, giving him advice, or helping Serbs from this side of the Drina, financially, politically, but without interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign and independent BiH.
Supporting the referendum and thereby openly demonstrating that he does not respect this country and its Constitutional Court is a reflection of political audacity, which are by no means European and democratic values that he speaks sweetly about when meeting with European officials.
In November 2015, the Constitutional Court of BiH made a Decision that January 9th, the Day of Republika Srpska, is unconstitutional. The decision was also published in the Official Gazette of BiH.
For Dodik and his associates, that meant nothing then, nor does it now. The referendum will be carried out as he envisioned.
Vučić is giving wind to the sails and providing open support to Serb politicians in RS in undermining and disrespecting the state court. Will the High Representative Valentin Inzko, as the sole interpreter of the Dayton Peace Agreement, remain silent about this direct interference in the internal affairs of the state of BiH and support for disrespecting and undermining the Constitutional Court? Or will he continue with non-interference in his job.
