EURO EHF 2020 Croats with Belarusians, neighbour derby between Serbia and Montenegro

(Patria) - On the third day of the European Handball Championship (EURO EHF 2020), second-round matches in groups A and C, as well as the first matches in group E, are scheduled.

The Croatian national team defeated Montenegro 27:21 in their opening match in group A, while their opponent today, Belarus, was better than Serbia with a score of 35:30.

Croatian coach Lino Červar expects an extremely difficult duel against Belarus, in which, according to him, it will be important to stop the Belarusian play at the pivot, especially Artsem Karalek.

“We will have to respond there, as that is their biggest threat. Karalek is a very good pivot and can disrupt the entire system, and the 5-1 defense will have a big task there. We will see how we implement that,” emphasized the Croatian coach, assessing that “everyone is playing well” today.

In the second match of this group, we will watch a “neighbour derby” between Serbia and Montenegro, a duel between two teams that were defeated at the start of the tournament. Montenegro coach Zoran Roganović believes that both teams will be looking for a win to stay in contention for the second round of EURO 2020.

The second-round Group A match, played in Graz between Serbia and Montenegro, is scheduled for 6:15 PM at the Stadthalle arena, with a live broadcast on BHT1.

Second-round matches of Group C are also being played today, with the spotlight on the clash between handball giants and the last European throne holders – Spain and Germany. Latvia and the Netherlands will face off in a duel of “outsiders”.

The first round of the EP will conclude with the first-round matches of Group E. Hungary and Russia will play starting at 4:00 PM today, while Scandinavian rivals Denmark and Iceland will compete at 6:15 PM.
