
A state of emergency has been declared in 11 municipalities in Serbia, due to severe floods that have affected some areas. More than 59 people have been evacuated from Lučani, Čačak, Gornji Milanovac, Priboj, Novi Pazar..., the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced, reports Patria agency.
Minister of Defence Zoran Đorđević made a decision to engage members of the Serbian Army to provide assistance in the flooded areas.
Water has flooded numerous houses and arable land in the areas of Arilje, Guča, Užice, Požega, Kosjerić, Bajina Bašta...
Classes have also been suspended in about ten schools in central Serbia, reported Beta agency.
At the same time, numerous landslides have been activated, threatening houses as well, reports Blic, stating that the situation is most dramatic in Požega, which is under water.
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić said that the European Union has approved 1.2 million KM for the flooded areas in Serbia, reports Patria.
