Duraković: We will not allow Srebrenica to be lost due to fictitious voters from Serbia and deceased on the list

The joint candidate of pro-Bosniak parties for the mayor of Srebrenica municipality and the current mayor Ćamil Duraković says in an interview with the Patria agency that he believes in his victory on October 2nd.

- However, I must warn, as I have said before, that the Central Election Commission (CIK) must pay attention to the 400 ballots arriving by mail from Serbia. Special attention must be paid to the validity of signatures and submitted documentation, considering that this number of registered voters by mail in Srebrenica from Serbia has not been recorded before. Therefore, additional checks must be carried out, says Duraković in an interview with the Patria news agency.

The current voter list for Srebrenica includes about 7,200 citizens of Serbian nationality and 2,900 of Bosniak nationality who will vote at regular polling stations.

- We have a total of about 1,600 registered voters from abroad, of which 400 are from Serbia. We also have about 1,700 displaced persons who will exercise their right to vote. We expect the number of valid ballots to be between 9,000 and 10,000, meaning we need to win between 4,500 and 5,200 votes to win, Duraković points out and adds:

- This year again, we will witness the arrival of buses from the direction of Bajina Bašta. I have warned before about the problematic nature of the voter lists at polling stations in Skelani. Do not forget that in the last elections, 1,000 people voted there, plus 300 in Kostolomci. The monitoring of polling stations in that area was negligible, and we will ask international missions to deal with this issue more seriously.

Duraković hopes that the arrival of voters from Serbia who obtain identity cards on election day at the police station will not be repeated, causing chaos at the polling station for unconfirmed voters in the House of Culture.

- Our members of the polling boards are now significantly more prepared and trained for such cases. The fact is that due to the larger number of political parties participating in the elections, the SNSD coalition will have more people on the polling boards, but we will cover that with observers. I expect support from associations and the civil sector here. We have already warned them about the House of Culture, Elementary School, Vidikovac, Sase, Kalimanići, Skelani, Liješće, Jezero, Crvica, Brežani, Čičevci, Kostolomci as risky places where we expect manipulations, Duraković emphasizes.  

He also reminds that nothing has been done regarding the removal of deceased persons from the voter lists.

- I blame the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the CIK for this, as they have not coordinated this, and I have a feeling that the omissions are intentional. These are people who either have not lived in Srebrenica for 15 years, or have died. We will not give up the fight to stop this. We already have applications ready by polling station, and we will count five times if necessary, but we will not allow Srebrenica to be lost due to fictitious voters from Serbia and deceased persons on the voter lists, Duraković states.
