Đukanović: Belgrade's Greater Serbian policy is an extended arm of Russian imperial interests in Europe

(Patria) - I would not have done anything differently regarding what is most important for the state and society. When you look at what we have experienced in the last three years, Montenegro's faltering after the change of government, you might conclude that we were going faster than realistic, that we achieved more than possible.

This is the assessment of the former President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, in an interview with Boštjan Anžin for Slovenian RTV 365.

Commenting on accusations by some that Montenegro was a "captured state" during the previous government, Đukanović said that it is necessary to reverse such a thesis and look at the issue from another perspective.

- That 'captured' Montenegro was admitted to NATO by the will of NATO, and then, three years after the change of government and 'liberation', it became the Balkans' cancer.

Does such a thing seem logical to you? No, it seems stupid, and it is stupid. But political stupidity is not confined to the Western Balkans, but is much wider - stated Đukanović.

Speaking about the awakening of many retrograde values in Montenegro recently, Đukanović sees it as a revival of what was considered buried at the moment the Dayton Agreement was signed.

- There are attempts to achieve buried goals in a new era. Why do such people think this is the right time for such moves? Precisely because of Russia.

Russia always plays with anti-European values and has found fertile ground here because for three years we have not had a pro-European policy at the head of Montenegro - Đukanović stated.

He also points out that there is no pro-European policy in power today, and that one is not a pro-European politician if they say so, but takes every step that is anti-European and serves the interests of Belgrade's policy.

- Therefore, it serves Greater Serbian interests in Montenegro, and of course, Belgrade's Greater Serbian policy is an extended arm of Russian imperial interests in this part of Europe and in Europe as a whole - states Đukanović.

He adds that Balkan nationalisms are aggressive, fascistic, villainous, and notes that whoever compromises with Balkan nationalisms pushes the Balkans into war, reports antenaM.net.
