Twenty-eight members of the Alliance today signed the Protocol on Montenegro's accession to NATO membership in Brussels, reports the Patria News Agency.
Before the signing, the Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović said that today has a special symbolism for his country, as it corresponds with the celebration of a decade of independence.
-Ten years after independence, we are one step away from NATO membership and well on our way to the European Union. We are on the right track, said Đukanović.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg sent a message to other countries that wish to join the Alliance:
-This is a clear sign that NATO's doors are open to partners who share and promote our values!
