Đukanović: Milatović is running on a Greater Serbia platform

(Patria) - Presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović believes that the presidential candidate of the Europe Now Movement, Jakov Milatović, is running on a Greater Serbia platform.

Milatović is, incidentally, Đukanović's opponent in the second round of the presidential elections in Montenegro scheduled for April 2nd.

Đukanović held a forum last night in the Bijelo Polje local community of Gornji Grad, where he dedicated part of his address to some of his opponents in the first round of the presidential elections.

- Most of my opponents are running on a Greater Serbia platform. That is undeniable. Mandić, Danilović, who proudly state it, but no matter how much they try to hide it, so are Bečić and Milatović. That is completely clear to anyone who scratches a little below the surface.

Both of them are SNP upstarts who, at every crossroads we have passed, have been against Montenegro. Their foundation is there, and they haven't moved much from it, if they have moved at all - said Đukanović.

He also states that the past two and a half years can be most accurately described as the agony of Montenegrin society.

The DPS announced that Đukanović told the forum in Bijelo Polje that the presidential elections can be seen as the first half.

- And victory in the parliamentary elections will return Montenegro to normality - Đukanović conveyed.

He also conveys that after August 30, 2020, Montenegro went from a state of good prosperity and progress towards the European Union into a completely abnormal political state.

- In which we have lost two and a half years and a state that I can probably describe most accurately now as the agony of Montenegrin society - Đukanović points out.

Speaking about the disturbed relations between the East and the West, and the reflection of such a state on the situation in the region, Đukanović said that nationalists are not on the European value system and that they systematically offer the Balkans the same false alternative.

- And that false alternative reads - multi-ethnic democracy is not possible in the Balkans, we are underdeveloped, we are weak, we are intolerant towards each other, there will never be peace as long as we live together, therefore it is necessary to change borders and for everyone to align themselves in their national pens - added Đukanović.

He also stated that the current authorities have shown exceptional neglect for the problems of the most socially vulnerable part of the population, and added that such an attitude must change.

According to Đukanović, everyone should make a great effort "to achieve victory, which we will celebrate on April 2nd".

- Various influences and impacts will be present, as we know, and you have seen them here, as have I, where I live. Therefore, I really want to motivate you, to do literally everything in these few days.

If we do that, then I am perfectly calm and convinced that we will celebrate another great victory on Sunday evening - concluded Đukanović.
