Second round of presidential elections in North Macedonia on May 5

SKOPJE, (Patria) - The new president of North Macedonia will be elected in the second round to be held on May 5, MIA reports, as carried by the Patria agency. SDSM candidate Stevo Pendarovski won 42.85 percent of the vote, while VMRO-DPMNE candidate Gordana Siljanovska Davkova won 42.24 percent of the vote. The third candidate, Alliance for Albanians and BESA candidate Blerim Raka, received 10.58 percent of the vote.

Pendarovski said that if elected, he will be the president of all citizens of North Macedonia.

"Together is the concept that will win on May 5. The majority of citizens - Macedonians, Albanians, Turks, Serbs, Bosniaks, Vlachs, Roma - have said they want to move forward," Pendarovski said, noting that the elections were conducted in a democratic spirit and will be concluded on May 5.

If no candidate in the second round receives more than 40 percent of the total number of registered voters who turned out, the presidential elections will be repeated.
