Doctors of Law: Serbia has de facto recognized Kosovo, only ambassadors are left to be appointed

(Patria) - Facsimiles of the agreement signed by the leaders of Serbia and Kosovo, Aleksandar Vučić and Avdullah Hoti, in the White House in the presence of US President Donald Trump have leaked on social networks.

The agreement states that both sides will implement the previously signed agreement on highways, as well as the construction of railway infrastructure. Both Belgrade and Pristina will also join a feasibility study that envisages connecting this infrastructure with a port on the Adriatic Sea.

It is also emphasized that Kosovo will agree to implement a one-year moratorium in its efforts to become a member of international organizations, while Serbia will have a one-year moratorium on campaigns of non-recognition of Kosovo. Also, the agreement states that Kosovo and Israel will mutually recognize each other.

It further states that Kosovo and Serbia will work with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and EXIM Bank on a series of infrastructure projects that envisage connecting cities in Serbia and Kosovo.

Both sides, it is said, will join the "mini-Schengen zone" announced in October 2019.

Doctor of Law Enver Išerić gave an interesting observation on the published facsimile.

"If Serbia signed an agreement with Kosovo, which states that Kosovo and Israel will mutually recognize each other, does that mean that Serbia has de facto recognized Kosovo as an independent state. Of course, it does! Only ambassadors are left to be appointed," stated Išerić.
