Dodik: I told Vučić that we are seriously considering a decision on the independence and secession of RS

(Patria) - The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, said today that at a meeting in Belgrade, he informed the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, about the internal problems of BiH and attempts to dismantle the constitutional position of Republika Srpska.

- The engagement of a part of the international community and political Sarajevo leads to the degradation and further complication of the constitutional position of Republika Srpska. We have reached a point where we cannot postpone this issue, and our defense, as a reaction to all of this, is that we are most seriously considering making a decision on the independence and secession of Republika Srpska - pointed out Dodik.

He emphasized that Republika Srpska is not asking for anything other than what has already been resolved by the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of BiH.

Dodik reiterated that Republika Srpska advocates for neutrality, following Serbia's position.

"We are most seriously considering making a decision on the independence and secession of RS if these issues concerning property and other rights given to RS are not returned," Dodik added.

- Cooperation with NATO is possible, but we have now suspended it until we define our position, but membership is out of the question - Dodik stated.

Vučić said that Dodik informed him about the state of affairs and relations in BiH, as well as Republika Srpska's struggle and attempts to preserve its rights and obligations from the Dayton Peace Agreement.

- The Dayton Peace Agreement is the essence of the functioning of BiH, and therefore of Republika Srpska, and we will always support everything that is agreed upon by the three constituent peoples while respecting this agreement - he said.
