32.24 percent of voters in Kosovo voted by 3 PM

(Patria) - The Central Election Commission of Kosovo announced that by 3 PM, 32.24 percent of registered voters with the right to vote, or 567,934 voters, had cast their ballots in the early parliamentary elections.

Extraordinary parliamentary elections are being held in Kosovo, in which citizens are choosing 120 deputies for the new parliamentary convocation from among 1,079 candidates.

The President of the Central Election Commission, Valdete Daka, stated that in the last elections on October 6, 2019, 29.28 percent, or 554,750 voters, had voted by the same time.

According to data from the field, the electoral process is proceeding regularly and without problems, although there are no OSCE observers this year.

Daka confirmed that the Central Election Commission also decided today to allow citizens with expired identity cards to vote, as well as those who had problems renewing their identity cards at the Ministry of Internal Affairs due to obstacles caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Polling stations will be open until 7 PM. Voting is taking place with measures prescribed to prevent the spread of coronavirus, including mandatory mask-wearing, use of hand sanitizers, and maintaining distance.

The first preliminary results are expected around 10 PM.
