DF: Let Croatia help Aluminij with stolen electricity from Buško Lake

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Democratic Front calls on the Government of the Republic of Croatia, which owns 12 percent of the shares in Aluminij d.o.o. Mostar, to immediately allocate funds for Aluminij, given that by using the water from the Buško Lake accumulation, located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hrvatska elektroprivreda generates huge amounts of electricity annually, bringing it illegal, clean profits of at least 70 million marks. This was announced by DF.

“It is known that Croatia does this completely illegally without an agreement with Bosnia and Herzegovina, but with the ‘permission’ of its defunct parastate, the so-called Herceg Bosna. Taking into account the alarming state in which Aluminij finds itself, until this problem, which is a problem between two countries, is resolved, we expect the Government of the Republic of Croatia to seize the opportunity and return part of the funds to Bosnia and Herzegovina in this way. We also call on the HDZ to send an appeal to the Government of the Republic of Croatia in this regard,” the written reaction from DF states.

The director of Aluminij, Dražen Pandža, announced on Wednesday that the Mostar factory will be shut down at the first minute on Saturday, due to huge debts.
In the past few years, Aluminij has been operating at a loss, and the company's total debt is almost 400 million marks, of which more than half is debt for consumed electricity.
A group of Aluminij workers from Mostar arrived at noon today in front of the building of the Government of the Federation of BiH, demanding help for this company on the verge of collapse, as well as the prosecution of those who ruined this once-great Mostar aluminum processing giant.
