Compromised employee of the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed the demonstrators yesterday

During yesterday's demonstrations in Sarajevo, Damir Babić, a compromised employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, who was urgently recalled from the United States of America (USA) last year as a consular officer and returned home because he was waving a knife drunk in a residential building in Washington, addressed the demonstrators!

Yesterday, Babić called on the demonstrators to set aside emotions and clearly state their demands that politicians must fulfill.

According to unofficial information obtained by the BiH news agency Patria (NAP), Babić has been an employee of the BiH MFA since November 1, 2001. His first position at the BiH MFA was as a liquidator in the Finance Department of the BiH MFA, after which he served as a consular officer in the General Consulate in Bonn and Chicago, and as an administrative officer in the Visa and Passport Affairs Department until April 2011. After that, Babić took up the position of consular officer at the BiH Embassy in Washington.

In June of last year, the headquarters of the BiH MFA was informed by the BiH Embassy in Washington about the incident caused by Babić in Washington.

Namely, at the request of the security guards of the building where Babić lived, the American police intervened because Babić, in a visibly disturbed and aggressive state, appeared with a kitchen knife in the main lobby of the building.

Babić was not arrested on that occasion because, in accordance with his status in the USA, he enjoyed immunity.

The American police were aware of the fact that Babić had allegedly suffered trauma and physical head injuries during the war in BiH and that he was under medical treatment because of it.

The BiH MFA is not aware of the details of the medical findings, respecting Babić's privacy, but it was pointed out that the medical therapy he uses in combination with alcohol consumption, which apparently occurred, can cause serious problems.

After this incident, Babić was returned to the headquarters of the BiH MFA in Sarajevo because the host country canceled his hospitality due to a gross violation of service rules.

Respecting the will of the host country, Babić was recalled from the BiH Embassy in Washington.

As NAP further unofficially learns, the BiH MFA could not initiate disciplinary proceedings against him because it did not have material evidence (police reports, etc.). Also, it could not initiate an assessment of Damir Babić's work capacity, because according to the existing legislation in the FBiH and BiH, an assessment of work capacity can only be carried out with the employee's consent.
