TIRANA SUMMIT DECLARATION: Russia blamed for crisis, Western Balkans remains in EU focus

SARAJEVO, (Patria) -. At the Summit of European Union and Western Balkan leaders, held today in Tirana, a declaration was adopted which was not supported only by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.

It was the first Summit of this composition in one of the countries of our region.

In addition to the highest EU officials, the gathering was attended by leaders of EU member states and countries of the region.

The main topics of the summit were jointly addressing the consequences of the Russian attack on Ukraine, intensifying political engagement, strengthening security and building resilience against external interference, as well as facing challenges posed by migration, the fight against terrorism and organised crime.

The participants, among other things, concluded that:

• Russia is solely responsible for the current energy and economic crisis,
• Russia's escalating war of aggression against Ukraine endangers European and global peace and security,
• the EU once again confirmed its full and unequivocal commitment to the EU membership perspective of the Western Balkans and called for accelerating the accession process,
• the EU and the Western Balkans are committed to fighting foreign information manipulation,...
