Day of mourning in Macedonia: Youngest victim of floods is two-year-old Enes

The youngest victim of yesterday's floods in Skopje was only two years old, and the oldest was 67, the Macedonian Ministry of Interior announced last night, reports the Patria News Agency.

The body of two-year-old boy Enes Mustafa was found next to the body of his grandfather Bajram Mustafa (67) in the settlement of Čento.

In the severe storm that hit Skopje and its surroundings on the night between Saturday and Sunday, 21 people died. Most of the victims are from the settlement of Čento, two from Kriva Palanka, and one dead from Kumanovo and Tetovo. One victim has not yet been identified.

Rescue teams saved more than 1,000 citizens, but six people are reported missing. The City of Skopje and the Municipality of Gazi Baba, where the deceased lived, will help the families with 4,500 euros each.

The Government of Macedonia declared a state of emergency due to the severe weather in the areas of the municipalities of Skopje and Tetovo, where there were no human casualties.

Today is a day of mourning in Macedonia, and it is expected that a state of emergency will be declared in the hardest-hit settlements of Skopje.
