Dačić's dangerous populist messages in Bratislava: Everyone in the region is an extremist except Serbia

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić, with his speech in Bratislava, once again showed that populism with a touch of nationalism is the pattern of his political action.

He has never apologized for what his Socialist Party did in the 1990s when a bloody war and aggression raged, and he has even managed to convince some Brussels circles and some European leaders that he is a pro-European politician, writes the Patria News Agency.  

In Bratislava today, he said that Serbia, as before, will remain a dedicated and reliable partner of the European Union in the fight against threats to the modern European order, reports the Patria News Agency.

- However, Serbia is concerned that an old form of extremism is being revived in its neighborhood, through the tendency to indirectly and directly promote and rehabilitate Nazi and fascist ideology from the past, which was defeated in World War II, said Dačić at an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers and candidate countries.

According to him, this is done in various ways - through the affirmation of symbols and iconography of these ideologies, "which does not meet with condemnation from the official authorities."

Dačić did not say a word about who is fueling this extremism, this rehabilitation of Nazi and fascist ideology from the past? Where has the Chetnik duke Draža Mihailović been rehabilitated? The Ravna Gora movement can freely do whatever they want in Serbia, and then they cross into Bosnia and Herzegovina and create unrest and fear among Bosniak returnees.

According to Dačić, all countries in the region are the problem except his own.

Serbia is concerned! The same Serbia that has been interfering in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a quarter of a century, and is looking for every opportunity to raise inter-ethnic tensions, trades over our backs, and always keeps the realization of the "Greater Serbia" plan in reserve, from which not a millimeter has been abandoned, even though both Dačić and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić present themselves as peacemakers and factors of stability in the Balkans.

In fact, everything is the opposite of what Dačić and Vučić say in European metropolises.

Serbia is a factor of instability, and first and foremost, Serbia and Dačić and Vučić benefit from the political ground being shaky, and that they are the ones pulling the strings of political earthquakes and trading.

Although the meeting in Bratislava is informal, the conclusions that EU foreign ministers draw from the speeches of each colleague are not informal, because they serve them for the further implementation of policy towards countries that want to be part of the European family.

Dačić presented his country as European, and neighbors Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina as nationalist and disruptive factors. And messages from Belgrade through joint police exercises, demanding an urgent investigation into the burning of a church in Sarajevo.... erase and rewrite.

One can only hope that Europe will not take these populist statements by Dačić for granted, and that official Brussels knows who is adding fuel to the fire in the Balkans. The same ones who were with Slobodan Milošević and Vojislav Šešelj in the 90s.

A suit and tie, and European rhetoric, cannot turn a nationalist into a "European" overnight.
