Dačić: Serbia does not intend to join NATO

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić stated that Serbia is militarily neutral and has no intention of becoming a member of NATO, but rather there is a common interest in building peace in the region, in cooperation with the alliance, reports the Patria News Agency.

On the occasion of the signing of Serbia's Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) with NATO, Dačić explained that the agreement represents the highest level of cooperation with the Alliance for a country that does not wish to be a member.

- There is no need to make a spectacle out of this. This agreement should not be seen as moving closer to membership, absolutely not, but as the development of our good relations, yes, said Dačić, as reported by Belgrade media.

Dačić emphasized that through cooperation with NATO, Serbia has received additional guarantees that any Kosovo security forces will not be able to enter northern Kosovo without NATO's consent.

Speaking about the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, he said that it is important for Serbia to know what it wants and that care must be taken that the negotiations do not lead to the strengthening of the so-called independence of Kosovo.
