Dačić with Russian Ambassador on the Situation in Kosovo

(Patria) - Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić discussed the situation in Kosovo and the development of bilateral cooperation today in Belgrade with Russian Ambassador Alexander Bocan-Kharchenko.

According to a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, bilateral relations and the further development of cooperation and activities within international organizations were also discussed at the meeting.

Opinions were also exchanged on current foreign policy issues, the statement added.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the West has been asking the authorities in Belgrade to impose sanctions on Russia, which Serbia has so far refused, reports RSE.

Serbia is one of the few countries in Europe that has not imposed any restrictive measures against the Kremlin since the beginning of the invasion.

Serbia is an EU candidate country for full membership. These countries are expected to progressively align their foreign policies with EU policies.

Due to its relations with Russia, Serbia has not opened any chapters in the accession negotiation process since 2021, as some EU member states believe that the country cannot progress in the process until it imposes sanctions on Russia.
