Dačić: Croatia could use ballistic missiles against Serbia and RS

The head of Serbian diplomacy, Ivica Dačić, said that he would much rather have a trilateral meeting between Serbia, BiH, and Croatia, instead of with Turkey, reports the Patria News Agency.

"Turkey presents itself as the sponsor of BiH, and behaves as if we are children and do not know what we should do," Dačić told N1 Television.

He said that the escalation of relations between Serbia and Croatia due to Croatian ballistic missiles arose from the fear that they could be used against Serbia.

Dačić says that the assumption is that this armament can only be used against Serbia, possibly Republika Srpska. He assessed that relations in the region should be rational and based on common interests, and expects a government to be formed in Croatia so that rational relations can be established.

Dačić believes that he will cooperate better with Tomislav Karamarko from HDZ than with Zoran Milanović from SDP, and that HDZ might have more courage to take certain steps that SDP did not have enough courage for.

"It is good for us to bring these relations, not to the stage of love, but of common interest," said Dačić.

When asked whether Belgrade will insist on the installation of Cyrillic signs and minority rights in Vukovar, Dačić replied that it is a civilizational achievement.

"If this is a problem for modern Croatia or modern Serbia, then I can say that we are lagging in development," he stated.

Dačić said that Croatia has positioned itself towards Serbia contrary to its national interests.

He says that Serbia does not share the stance with the US and some EU countries that Kosovo should join the UN and has no intention of changing its policy and acting to its own detriment.

Dačić reiterated Serbia's stance that it will not support the candidate of Croatia, Macedonia, or Montenegro for the position of UN Secretary-General.

"We have no intention of voting for someone who will introduce Kosovo into the United Nations from day one. Just as they do for themselves, we must do for ourselves. We will not act against our own interests," emphasized Dačić.

He added that Serbia will decide in the first half of this year whether to nominate its own candidate for the position of UN Secretary-General or support one of the already nominated candidates.
