(Patria) - A large number of citizens responded to the aid collection campaign for the people of Turkey and Syria, organized by the Civil Protection Service of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality.
In the past two days, since the campaign has been ongoing, large quantities of donated items have arrived at the storage facility in the “Safet Zajko” Center, which need to be sorted as soon as possible for further distribution to the earthquake-affected areas.
The Civil Protection Service is calling on volunteers to join this humanitarian mission and help pack the humanitarian aid. All interested individuals can report to the Service headquarters at the “Safet Zajko” Center between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM to contribute to sorting the received items.
The collection campaign for basic foodstuffs, clothing, footwear, blankets, sleeping bags, baby food, hygiene products, and other necessities will last until Wednesday, February 15.
Representatives of the Novi Grad Civil Protection urge citizens to, if possible, label the items they deliver on packages or bags, so that volunteers can sort the goods more efficiently and quickly.
Citizens wishing to donate food are asked to provide canned food and other non-perishable food items with a longer shelf life.
Given that a very large number of people have lost their homes and are staying in tents, besides food, they currently most need blankets, warm sweaters, jackets, hats, T-shirts, boots, as well as electric and gas heaters, solar chargers for lamps, sleeping bags, kitchen sets, and the like.
