Montenegro expels 87 men who arrived on a charter flight from Serbia

(Patria) - The Police Administration and the National Security Agency of Montenegro announced that today 87 men who arrived from Serbia on a charter flight to Tivat were expelled from the country.

Prema nezvnaičnim informacijama sumnja se da bi njihov dolazak mogao biti povezan sa aktivnostima koje imaju elemente hibridnog djelovanja tokom održavanja Samita EU – Zapadni Balkan u Tivtu. Takođe, prema nezvaničnim informacijama njima je zabranjen ulazak u Crnu Goru i biće vraćeni u Beograd.

It was announced that proceedings will also be initiated to issue decisions banning the entry and stay of these individuals in Montenegro in the coming period.

Montenegrin security services stated that these individuals posed a risk to the national security of the state.

They add that the measures taken are supported by the fact that these are individuals who attended numerous public gatherings of high security risk, and that some of them have been recorded for committing criminal acts and misdemeanors with elements of violence.

"Based on the security checks conducted, risk assessment and profiling, these individuals were treated in accordance with the law," the Police stated.

They remind that today, as part of extensive, continuous and intensified activities carried out on the occasion of the EU - Western Balkans Summit, enhanced border and security checks were conducted at the Tivat Airport border crossing.

On that occasion, a charter flight on the Belgrade - Tivat route, which brought 87 citizens of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro, was singled out and placed under control.

"As part of activities aimed at maintaining a stable security environment, the security services timely identified persons of security interest and, in accordance with legal powers and assessed risks, took appropriate official measures and actions, which prevented their stay on the territory of Montenegro, with the delivery of decisions banning entry," the Police stated.

They add that officers of the Police Administration and the National Security Agency collected operational and intelligence data that unequivocally indicate that these are individuals whose presence on the territory of Montenegro would pose a risk to internal and national security, within the meaning of the provisions of the Law on Foreigners.

They provided photographs of items found on these individuals, including a banner with the inscription "Srbija pobeđuje" (Serbia wins), a remote communication device and a marine radio station.

"At the same time, we emphasize that we will strongly, decisively and uncompromisingly oppose any form of malicious activity, and that we will take measures against all interest groups, individuals and attempts at destabilization through precise operationalization of activities aimed at neutralizing and exposing the activities of criminal groups and persons associated with them operating on the territory of Montenegro, including their connections with foreign elements, whose ultimate goal is to undermine the stability of the state and slow down European integration processes," the Police added.

The Police Administration further states that by engaging all available police forces, capacities, human resources, equipment and strategic systems, together with the intelligence and security sector - the National Security Agency, the Intelligence and Security Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro, they will take all legally prescribed measures and actions that guarantee the safe and secure holding of this important international event.

"Also, as part of this operation, officers of the Police Administration seized two buses with license plates of the Republic of Serbia, which are suspected to have been intended for transporting and relocating persons from Belgrade, about which the Police Administration is conducting detailed checks and taking further measures and actions to establish all facts and circumstances.

Officers of the Border Police Sector - inspectors for foreigners are conducting extensive checks of foreign nationals staying on the territory of Montenegro, and determining the basis of their stay in accordance with applicable laws," the Police added.
