Montenegro supported the entry of North Macedonia into the NATO alliance

PODGORICA, (Patria) - Montenegro, by passing the Law on the Ratification of the Protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty on the Accession of North Macedonia, has once again shown unambiguous support for North Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic future, said the Speaker of the Parliament Ivan Brajović at a meeting with the Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament Talat Xhaferi.

Xhaferi thanked for the opportunity to attend the discussion and vote on the Law, which brings North Macedonia one step closer to NATO membership. The interlocutors emphasized the importance of signing the Prespa Agreement and North Macedonia's North Atlantic path for strengthening good neighborly cooperation and regional stability.

It was assessed that Montenegro and North Macedonia should work on strengthening economic cooperation, which should follow the existing excellent political relations, among which parliamentary cooperation holds a prominent place.

Today, for the first time as a NATO member and 13 years after the restoration of statehood, Montenegro had the opportunity to declare itself on the proposal for the admission of a new country to the Alliance.

It was emphasized that the benefits of NATO membership already exist in Montenegro, but that the real results will be seen in the coming years.
