Montenegro deports 55 Russians and five Japanese

Members of the religious sect "Aum Shinrikyo", which performed rituals in Montenegro, will be deported today, reports the Patria News Agency.

These are, as stated, 55 Russians and five Japanese, and they were given a deadline to leave the country by March 28 because they did not have registered residence in Montenegro, where they had been staying since March 15 in the hotels "Perjanik" and "Ramada".

By order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office, the police detained foreign nationals last Friday for questioning, who were mostly staying in a hotel in Danilovgrad, following intelligence that this catering facility was closed to other guests and that the suspects had requested all cameras to be turned off during their stay.

The arrested individuals were questioned for several hours at the Podgorica police station, and their mobile phones and laptops were confiscated. However, after the hearing, they were released with a decision to leave the country by March 28 because they had not registered their residence.

As reported by the Russian news agency Itar-Tass, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement that the Russian embassy in Montenegro was in constant contact with local authorities to protect the legal rights of the Russians who were questioned by the police.

According to their statements, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Montenegro announced that none of the detained Russian citizens had contacted the embassy, nor had the police contacted the embassy.

The spokesperson for the Russian embassy told the Russian newspaper "RIA Novosti" that "these citizens must leave Montenegro by March 28, that some have already left, and others will do so today", writes the Podgorica daily Dnevne novine.
