Čović says nothing about coronavirus, congratulating Plenković on leading HDZ Croatia is more important

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović congratulated the new/old president of HDZ Croatia, Andrej Plenković, after the elections held yesterday. Čović published the congratulation on his Twitter account:

"Today's victory is proof of the commitment of the main party of the Croatian people to strong leadership and EU values. I look forward to future joint work on protecting the rights of Croats and the Euro-Atlantic path of BiH," Čović wrote. 

The president of HDZ BiH did not comment on the situation in BiH caused by the coronavirus pandemic, nor did he, for example, send a message to citizens to behave responsibly. Instead of congratulating Plenković, Čović could have sent a request to BiH citizens who are in Croatia to avoid coming to BiH or urged them to behave responsibly if they do come to BiH.

In this case as well, when BiH is facing one of the biggest crises, like the whole world, it was more important for Čović to curry favor with the Croatian Prime Minister.  

As the president of HDZ BiH, one of the components of power in BiH, Čović could have called for the urgent adoption of the BiH budget or at least a decision on temporary financing, given that it expires at the end of March, and the country is facing major problems caused by the coronavirus.
