Čakovec: Reckless 34-year-old shoots himself and a child in a house yard

(Patria) - The Međimurje police announced that they have completed a criminal investigation into a 34-year-old man suspected of committing the criminal offense of endangering life and property by a generally dangerous act or means.

"It is suspected that on Sunday, July 9 this year at around 7:30 PM in the Čakovec neighborhood of Kuršanac, in the yard of a family home, under the influence of alcohol, he carelessly handled a pistol, causing it to discharge.

The bullet fired from the pistol passed through the suspect's left hand and then hit a child, who sustained a gunshot wound to the right upper arm.

The injured were transported by private vehicle to the Čakovec hospital, where they were kept for further treatment, while their injuries will be classified later.

At the same time, a misdemeanor charge will be filed against the 34-year-old accused at the Municipal Court in Čakovec for committing an offense under the Law on Procurement and Possession of Weapons by Citizens.
