SARAJEVO, (Patria) - President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the Chief Prosecutor of the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals Serge Brammertz.
During the meeting, Vučić and Brammertz discussed the continuation of cooperation between the Mechanism and Serbia, regional cooperation in prosecuting war crimes, as well as the issue of finding missing persons.
On that occasion, Vučić emphasized that Serbia is consistent in its efforts to achieve justice for war crimes and to find missing persons during the war of the 1990s. He added that Serbia will continue to treat cooperation with the Mechanism seriously and responsibly, with an emphasis on improving regional judicial cooperation.
Brammertz pointed to the "Šešelj" case and the fact that the Court is not being respected, and requested that Serbia act responsibly on this matter, but also welcomed Serbia's role in regional efforts regarding the punishment of war crimes, assessing that the direct engagement of Serbian authorities and the Prosecutor's Office has yielded results and resolved problems, and that efforts should continue in that direction.
Vučić welcomed Brammertz's continued engagement and the support he provides to Serbia's progress towards national goals, reports Radio Free Europe.
