(Patria) - The National Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia announced the latest data related to the coronavirus epidemic in Croatia, and the Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović spoke about the measures at the borders with Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and about the supervision of those who have been ordered to self-isolate.
"Given the new information system of the Ministry of the Interior, in the last 24 hours, checks were carried out on reports concerning 57 citizens who are not complying with self-isolation measures, 18 of them have been reported to the sanitary inspection and will be sanctioned in accordance with legal regulations," said Božinović, adding that it is unrealistic to expect the police to be able to control the number of people in self-isolation at all times.
"We mainly act on reports, then it is checked in the IT system, and it can even be checked when the police stop you in traffic, meaning it can be seen if that person has been ordered to self-isolate. We hope that everyone in the chain of imposing sanctions will be prompt in this regard."
Božinović says that 51 people are currently in quarantine, 59 in Split, and two in Dubrovnik. Of the 48 facilities, 21 have been mobilized, of which 12 are intended for truck drivers.
Regarding the situation at the borders, Božinović said that a regime that has yielded results has been established since seven in the morning, and the director of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, Krunoslav Capak, confirmed what Božinović himself said, that citizens of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will not need to go into self-isolation.
"By 7 AM, we had processed four convoys with 195 freight vehicles and two buses. By 7 AM, 41 freight vehicles had left the Republic of Croatia at the Bajakovo border crossing, and similarly, 41 vehicles had left for BiH at the Stara Gradiška border crossing. In transit in the Republic of Croatia under police escort are 68 freight vehicles and two buses moving towards Bajakovo, and 45 freight vehicles moving towards Stara Gradiška," said Božinović.
