Bosnian and Slovenian citizens caught driving drunk, one convicted, the other awaiting trial

(Patria) - In the Municipal Court in Gračac today, a BiH citizen (43) was sentenced to 28 days in prison, suspended for one year, for driving under the influence of alcohol at 1.79 per mille, while a trial is pending for a Slovenian citizen (60) for driving with an alcohol level of 2.4 per mille.

Spokesperson for the Lika-Senj Police Administration, Maja Brozičević, told Hina that in addition to the suspended prison sentence, the court issued a three-month ban on the use of the BiH citizen's foreign driver's license in Croatia.

He was stopped by police officers from the Korenica Border Police Station yesterday while driving a car in a visibly intoxicated state. The check revealed that he was driving with 1.79 per mille of alcohol, and he was immediately removed from traffic and arrested, and taken to trial in Gračac today.

Also, yesterday, police in Senj removed a visibly intoxicated Slovenian citizen (60), who was driving a car with Slovenian license plates, from traffic and took him to their premises for sobering up. The alcohol test revealed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol at 2.40 per mille.

- He was not tried today under the urgent procedure due to the strike of court officials and employees; he was released and his trial will be conducted later, through the regular procedure - said Brozičević.
