
(Patria) - The European Union announced that High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell spoke with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
"Following today's horrific and cowardly terrorist attack on Kosovo police officers, Borrell spoke with Prime Minister Kurti. He condemned today's aggression in the strongest terms," the EU statement said.
As stated, Borrell expressed condolences to the family, colleagues, and close ones of the police officer who lost his life in the line of duty, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured officers.
It is added that the EU High Representative also called President Vučić.
"Borrell reiterated his call for the attackers to immediately surrender and release the pilgrims from the Banjska monastery, allowing them to leave safely," the statement adds.
He called for the re-establishment of peace and stability.
It is added that EULEX, as one of the entities responsible for security in Kosovo, is monitoring the situation on the ground and is ready to support Kosovo's institutions in preserving the stability and security of all communities, in accordance with its mandate and in close cooperation with KFOR.
The statement notes that the EU Special Representative for Kosovo is on the ground in close contact with the authorities.
