Blažo Stevović for NAP: Belgrade's policy has jeopardized the biological survival of Serbs

Member of the BiH Presidency Mladen Ivanić called on Serbs in the Federation of BiH to rally around the Serbian Orthodox Church, particularly the Dabar-Bosnia Metropolitanate, because, in his opinion, it is the only institution that can unite them, reports the Patria agency.

Ivanić's statement, according to analysts, is just an indication that politicians from Republika Srpska have definitively given up on Serbs outside of Republika Srpska.

Blažo Stevović, president of the Alternative Club from Trebinje, told the Patria agency that Ivanić's statement and call to Serbs is nothing new, and that it is merely the culmination of a process that began more than twenty years ago.

- Politics gave up on Serbs in the Federation a long time ago. Not only in the Federation but also in other parts where Serbs once constituted a significant factor – Stevović believes.

As examples, Stevović cites the almost complete disappearance of Serbs from the Federation of BiH, then Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro...

- The policy from Belgrade led to their disappearance. In Montenegro, Serbs have been reduced to a national minority, in Kosovo, they are practically gone except in some places in the north. Mostar was once an important city for Serbs, they constituted about 30 percent of the total population, today they are almost non-existent. Let's recall the departure of Serbs from Sarajevo in 1996 and the role Krajišnik played then by urging them to leave their city – says Stevović.

All this was done with the aim of bringing Serbs to a situation where they would only see salvation in Belgrade instead of in the places where they were born and were a significant factor before the war.

Blažo Stevović believes that official Belgrade, led by Aleksandar Vučić, who controls Ivanić, Dodik, and others, is behind the entire policy.

- Look at what has been achieved. Vučić was once part of the Greater Serbia project, and today he is adopting a declaration on the protection of Serbs. By waging expansionist wars against others, Serbs have jeopardized their own survival, meaning they have continued to behave recklessly or suicidally, and this is something that has been paved from Belgrade, through Dodik and similar phenomena, who, objectively speaking, have jeopardized the biological survival of Serbs – Stevović points out.

Stevović says it is paradoxical that Mladen Ivanić calls on Serbs to seek salvation in the Church when we know that he is a man who went through all the bodies of the former communist system.

- Mladen Ivanić recently made jokes about the Serbian patriarch, calling him 'bright' instead of 'holy', and today he suggests that Serbs turn to the Church. That's ridiculous – Stevović stated.
