Former Serbian Defence Minister on Karadžić: They plunged both their own and other nations into darkness

BELGRADE, (Patria) - Former Serbian Defence Minister Dragan Šutanovac commented on the Hague verdict against the former president of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadžić, and said that the verdict does not imply any responsibility of the people.

"Stop with collective guilt, criminals have names and surnames and that's the end of it," Šutanovac wrote on Twitter.

"They plunged both their own and other nations into darkness, and now they want to pass judgment on an entire nation," added Šutanovac, as reported by the Patria agency.

 

Nema tu nikakve odgovornosti naroda, manite se kolektivne krivice, zločinci imaju ime i prezime i tu je kraj! Zavili su u crno i svoj i druge narode pa bi sad da se presudjuje celom narodu, ne ide to tako.

The former defence minister further commented: "I don't know whether to welcome the verdict or to ask ourselves what kind of people we are when we chose the worst of the worst to lead us!?"

The Hague court today sentenced Radovan Karadžić to life imprisonment in a final verdict!

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on 24 March 2016, in a first-instance proceeding, sentenced the former president of Republika Srpska, an entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Radovan Karadžić to 40 years in prison for genocide, crimes against humanity and violations of the laws and customs of war, but that sentence was today commuted to life imprisonment.
