Former Croatian Minister of Defence Mario Banožić remains in intensive care

(Patria) - The Clinical Hospital Center (KBC) Osijek issued a brief statement today regarding the health condition of former Croatian Minister of Defence Mario Banožić, who was seriously injured in an accident in which Goran Šarić lost his life.

KBC stated that Banožić is still admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

"Clinical examinations and performed tests indicate a slight improvement in his health condition.

Mr. Banožić is conscious, with intensive therapy and monitoring still in place," they added.

To recall, on Saturday around 6:15 AM, Mario Banožić hit a van coming from the opposite direction with his car.

The collision occurred because Banožić was overtaking a truck in poor visibility.

On the same day, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković dismissed Banožić from the position of Minister of Defence, for which he yesterday proposed the prefect of Osijek-Baranja County, Ivan Anušić.
