Former Mayor of Osijek beaten in Zagreb

Krešimir Bubalo, former HDSSB mayor of Osijek and current director of development and strategies at the company Pevec, was targeted by unknown attackers this morning, writes the Croatian Jutarnji, reports Patria.

As he was leaving his building and going to work, around 7:45 AM, likely two unknown men intercepted and beat him in Ladislava Šabana street in Novi Jelkovac in the Sesvete area.

The beaten Bubalo was transported by ambulance to KB Dubrava for treatment of injuries, the severity of which is still being determined. Police arrived at the scene of the attack and are searching for the attackers and interviewing witnesses. Investigators are also looking for video surveillance in surrounding buildings to reconstruct the perpetrators' escape route based on the footage and track them down.

Whether the background of the attack lies in the conflict between two shareholder groups over dominance that has been ongoing for some time at Pevec, or if it is something else entirely, will be revealed by the ongoing criminal investigation.

The company Pevec soon sent a short statement.

- This morning, while leaving for work in front of his building, our Management Board member, Mr. Krešimir Bubalo, was attacked by several unknown perpetrators. During the attack, Mr. Krešimir Bubalo sustained injuries for which he is being treated in the hospital. We currently have no further information, so we ask for your understanding. When more details become known, we will inform you of new facts, reads the press release from the company Pevec, reports Jutarnji.
