American media company „Vox“ from Washington has published a map of Europe showing data on when each country on the old continent was last occupied. The map has attracted great attention, especially on social networks, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).
The map was published in the context of the Russian occupation of Crimea and the crisis in Ukraine, but the creators of the interesting map warn that, although Western Europe has avoided wars in the last 50 years, there have been earlier cases of occupation.
Thus, according to the map, in 1991 Yugoslavia occupied Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia, a fact based on historical facts that the Yugoslav People's Army, after the independence of these countries, became an occupying force.
Also, it is stated that the then state of Serbia and Montenegro occupied Kosovo in 2006.
The only country that has never been occupied in recent centuries is Great Britain, while Turkey, the map creators claim, was not occupied in 1243 when the Mongol invasion was recorded, Patria reports.
