Bosnian para-swimmer Nermin Memić wins medal at Croatian Championship

ZAGREB, (Patria) - At the 1st Open Para-Swimming Team Championship of Croatia held in Zagreb, among 27 clubs from six countries and 167 swimmers, there were also representatives from BiH from the Swimming Club Spid from Sarajevo. The competition featured swimmers from Austria, Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia.

The competition is also on the calendar of the World Para Swimming Association, and the results achieved were an opportunity to set standards for the World Championship and the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020. The competition also featured current medal winners from the last European and World Para Swimming Championships.

The best para-swimmers of Bosnia and Herzegovina competed with seven swimmers who had seventeen starts, of which they broke fifteen personal records. Our best para-swimmer Nermin Memić won one medal in the 100 m butterfly event in the ABSOLUTE category. 

PK Spid was represented by: Damir Muratović, Nermin Memić, Ajdin Karišik, Kanita Šabanović, Ismail Zulfić, Ismail Barlov, Muhamed Merdžanović, with coaches Admir Malićbegović, Ilda Kukuruzović, Đeneta Boja and Amel Kapo.

Coach Kapo, who is also the founder of PK Spid, said that in the team competition, the Sarajevo club placed 12th out of 27 clubs. 

"In just three years of the existence of this sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we can be very proud of the achieved result," Kapo said.
