Bećirović: Croatian President spoke about everything except her contribution to a stable BiH

Director of the International Institute for Middle Eastern and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) Ljubljana, Dr. Zijad Bećirović, commented for the Patria News Agency on the latest statements by Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.

Grabar-Kitarović spoke about BiH as the biggest threat to Croatia's stability.

- Unfortunately, it will take a long time on the Croatian political scene for someone like Stjepan Mesić, former President of the Republic of Croatia, to emerge. As President of Croatia, Mesić knew how to surgically cut through everything that threatened Croatia's interests.

The policy pursued by the stalwarts of HRHB did not have the support of official Zagreb during Mesić's presidency, because the policy of revitalizing HRHB strategically threatened Croatia's interests. Unfortunately, the President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, spoke about everything except her contribution to making BiH an unstable country.

There can be no "low-intensity conflict" in BiH. In BiH, it is either war or peace, and Croatia itself should be the pillar of BiH's stability, if for no other reason than for Croatia's security. Croatia's security is not just a theory and defense that a future war cannot be waged on Croatian territory, but only in BiH.

Croatia's security is also a successful tourist season, as Croatia, like never before, is "reaping the benefits" of wars and crisis situations from Egypt to Turkey, from France to Tunisia, and is filling its budget unprecedentedly precisely because of regional peace and stability.

Let the Croatian President consider dozens of other security challenges for Croatia if BiH were to break up and eventual armed conflicts were to occur.

The territory of Croatia could perhaps become NATO's most advanced point towards the East and Russia. I really do not understand such careless behavior from the Croatian President Grabar-Kitarović, who should act precisely the opposite, be a factor of stability, and not, through her exponents, support the policy of Milorad Dodik, whom she criticizes and labels as a security threat to BiH, says Bećirović.
