Bečić: Democrats agree for Milatović to entrust the mandate to Spajić

(Patria) - A meeting was held between the leader of the Democrats, Aleksa Bečić, and the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.

Aleksa Bečić informed President Jakov Milatović that the Democrats have given their consent for Milatović to entrust the mandate for the formation of the new government to the leader of PES, Milojko Spajić.

Bečić said they had a substantive conversation with Milatović, who continued consultations on the prime minister-designate today.

- We expressed the desire for the government to be formed as soon as possible. The most important thing for Montenegro is to get out of a kind of acting capacity and to have a new government - Bečić told reporters after the meeting at the Residence of the President of Montenegro in Cetinje, Vijesti.me reports.

When asked if the position of the Speaker of Parliament could be a stumbling block in the negotiations, Bečić replied that the Democrats have never traded or blackmailed.

- We discussed, agreed, and accepted the offer of the potential prime minister-designate.

Negotiations with the Democrats have been successfully concluded, and there is no contentious issue, Bečić stated.

When asked what exactly was offered to the Democratic Montenegro, Bečić said that the prime minister-designate leading the process will announce it when he considers the process to be complete and can present the final outcomes regarding all potential coalition partners.

In addition to Bečić, the Secretary General of the Democrats, Boris Bogdanović, and the Vice-President of the party, Momo Koprivica, also came for consultations with Milatović this morning around nine o'clock.

Milatović will also meet with the Bosniak Party and the Democratic People's Party today.

Although he has a month to appoint a prime minister-designate, Milatović previously announced that he would do so in about fifteen days.
