
(Patria) - A two-year-old child from Poland, who suffered serious injuries last night in Brijuni when a Dacia Duster vehicle hit him, died this morning at 7:15 AM at the Pula General Hospital, the Istrian police announced.
The accident occurred when a 51-year-old man from Fažana was driving a car with Pula license plates on the road of Veliki Brijun towards the Church of St. German late yesterday afternoon.
At one point, for reasons yet to be determined, he hit a 36-year-old Polish citizen, who was seriously injured, and her child, as they were crossing the road.
The injured woman and child received assistance at the Pula hospital, from which the police received notification this morning that the child had died.
It is unofficially known that the severely injured mother of the deceased child is pregnant, but is not in life-threatening condition.
- This morning, the police received information from the Pula hospital that the child died in the traffic accident.
The police are continuing with the investigation today. Yesterday we conducted part of the investigation, today we have the second phase - said the spokesperson of the Istrian Police Administration, Alen Pačić.
