Road to Friendship Forest Park on Grdonj asphalted

Works have begun on asphalting a section of the access road to the Friendship Forest Park from the reservoir to Špicasta stijena. The road rehabilitation is a joint project of the Municipalities of Centar and Stari Grad Sarajevo, as it is located on the territory of both municipalities. The park is being built on Grdonj and will cover an area of six hectares, writes Patria.

The reconstruction and asphalting of this road involves excavation, compacting the terrain with stone material, and asphalting over a length of 200 meters and an average width of two and a half meters. The road rehabilitation will enable better access to the Friendship Forest Park, which is under construction, and will certainly improve the living conditions of the local population.

One section of the road is currently being asphalted, while on another section, work on leveling and compacting the base is still underway. The value of the project is 21,469.50 KM, of which the Municipality of Stari Grad provided 6,469.50 KM, and the Municipality of Centar provided 15,000 KM. The contractor is the company KJKP „Rad“.

This park is being built on the territory of the Municipality of Stari Grad, which has provided the necessary urban planning and construction permits, and the project is being realized by the Turkish Forests, KJP “Sarajevo-šume“, and the company „Natron-Hayat“ d.o.o. from Maglaj.

A wooden fence is being installed along a length of 650 meters, and a wire fence along a length of 1,100 meters. An entrance gate has also been built. In addition, concrete bases have been prepared for the installation of gazebos and houses, which will be delivered from Turkey, as well as other park furniture foreseen by the project.

According to the project, the Friendship Forest Park will feature a viewpoint with a magnificent view of Sarajevo and a promenade, an amphitheater that can accommodate 80 visitors, and an exercise area equipped with modern exercise equipment. A cafe-restaurant with a terrace is also planned. Furthermore, there will be a picnic area, a children's playground with modern furniture, a fountain, and pergolas. A wooden bridge, 10 meters long, will be built along the promenade. Waste bins, directional signs, and warning signs will be placed along the entire promenade. The park will also have public lighting and security, meaning constant surveillance of the entire area.

The construction of the park is expected to be completed in July of this year.
