
(Patria) - Ambassadors of the Quint countries (USA, Great Britain, Italy, France, Germany held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti after today's attack by a paramilitary formation on the Kosovo police in which one policeman was killed and another wounded.
The Kosovo police surrounded the monastery in Banjska (Zvečan) where the armed attackers fled.
The Kosovo police announced that one attacker was killed, and an exchange of fire has been ongoing for several hours.
US Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenieri briefly stated after the meeting with Kurti that they are deeply concerned about the situation.
"We cannot say more than what we have already said," he said briefly after the meeting. He once again expressed condolences to the family of the killed policeman.
Today's attack was condemned by the European Union, embassies, and numerous European and American officials.
The KFOR-NATO mission is on alert but has not engaged in the Kosovo police operation.
