Academic Duraković for NAP: I fear Serbs or Wahhabis might cause an incident in RS

In the BiH entity of Republika Srpska, a referendum on the celebration of January 9th is being held on Sunday, although the Constitutional Court of BiH has issued a temporary measure prohibiting the referendum. This has caused great tension in BiH and increased inter-ethnic tensions in the country.

Academic Esad Duraković says in a comment for the Patria News Agency that he fears that one of the sides might intentionally cause an incident on Sunday, which could later escalate into much worse things.

- I fear that someone, perhaps even Serbs, or Wahhabis, might shoot somewhere, or cause some incident, which would be a godsend in Republika Srpska, and which would be the crowning argument for secession. Because Dodik has said several times that "if there's even a shot fired, we're leaving." I am very afraid of that. Then the joke would be over – says academic Duraković, reminding that the last aggression against BiH also began after the murder of a wedding guest in Baščaršija.

When asked if he thinks the referendum in RS has been blunted or has lost its value, after the Constitutional Court showed it is consistent in its decisions, and after the pressure from the international community, academic Duraković says that it is a fact that RS is trying to cushion some things by passing a new Law on Holidays, due to the pressure from the international public, and primarily due to the announced sanctions against politicians, but that this is only part of their strategy.

- That is a deception. They are trying to cushion things a bit, but the fact remains that a referendum is being held, which means the undermining of Dayton.

When asked how much blame lies with the Federation of BiH for the entire situation, academic Duraković says he does not think the problem comes from the Federation.

- When Haris Silajdžić was in politics, they accused him of provoking Dodik. Silajdžić is no longer around, so they accuse someone else of provoking Dodik. If this wasn't happening, they would have found another reason. These are people who are working to destroy Bosnia and Herzegovina – believes Duraković, writes Patria.
