The Agency for Employment and Labour of BiH is still waiting for the Croatian Government to approve an agreement that would enable legal employment of seasonal workers from our country in Croatia, writes the BiH news agency Patria.
The agreement on seasonal employment of workers from BiH in Croatia has long been approved by the Council of Ministers of BiH, as well as the Croatian Employment Service, and it is still awaiting the Croatian Government's decision on the proposal of this international agreement.
The Deputy Director of the Agency for Employment and Labour of BiH, Željko Rajić, told Patria that the current quota for employing workers in Croatia from countries that are not part of the EU is only around 200 workers. In addition to those workers who fall within this quota, workers from BiH who also have Croatian citizenship can work in Croatia without a work permit.
Thousands of workers from BiH go to Croatia every year during the season, where they work without valid documentation. This not only poses a risk for the workers, who, if caught by the labor inspection, can be banned from entering Croatia for a period of time, but it also poses a problem for companies that illegally employ workers, who can face significant fines for this violation.
The signing of an international agreement on legal employment of BiH workers during the season in Croatia would facilitate many workers from our country, as well as employers from Croatia, writes Patria.
