Wigemark in Fajon: Poor message that the HDZ BiH Club is not attending the session on the European path

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Tanja Fajon, a Member of the European Parliament, is visiting BiH where she is attending a thematic session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament "Challenges and Perspectives of the Federation of BiH on the European path", and before the session, a meeting was held with the leadership of both houses of the FBiH Parliament. MPs from the HDZ BiH-HNS Club are not attending today's session.

Fajon emphasized that she had a sincere conversation with her hosts who informed her about the situation in BiH.

- Today, the foreign ministers are discussing the enlargement for the Western Balkans. Some progress has been made on the reform agenda, but BiH may have entered the pre-election campaign too quickly and lost valuable time. I hope that BiH will continue to work on the EC Questionnaire and some important laws before the elections. It is difficult to move forward without cooperation and dialogue. I am convinced that the EU is the only solution for BiH, and we need BiH, and I hope that the authorities in BiH will continue this dialogue with the EC faster and with more motivation - said Fajon, emphasizing that she will continue to advocate for BiH in Brussels.

She commented on the absence of MPs from the HDZ BiH-HNS Club by saying that all MPs should have been at this session because it concerns the European future of BiH, but she does not want to enter into any political discussion or other people's emotions.

Head of the EU Delegation, Lars Gunnar Wigemark, said that this is not a good message because political actors in BiH reached a consensus on the European path of BiH at the beginning of their mandate.

- We had the opportunity to see how some issues affect the context of European integration.

Wigemark emphasized that consensus needs to be built both in BiH and in the EU.

- It is important for BiH at this moment not to lose momentum, i.e., movement in the European integration process. We are all aware that an election cycle is underway, but what is done before and after the elections is important - said Wigemark.

Mladen Bošković, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, said that MPs from HDZ BiH-HNS are not attending today's session due to "being outvoted at the last session".

- The HDZ BiH HNS Club will not attend this thematic session today not because Croats are not committed to the EU and NATO, but because they want to send a message that the outvoting that happened at the last session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, when the law on electoral units and what follows was adopted without a single vote from a male or female Croat - said Bošković.

He emphasized that this is a message against the outvoting of Croats in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament.
