During the Summit 100, the leading business initiative of the region, which is being held in BiH for the first time, organized by ASA Prevent Group and BBI Bank, within the workshop called "Challenges - how to turn a problem into progress" interesting panel discussions were held, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
The task for the participants, business leaders, was to propose the best solutions that they will present to political leaders at today's Summit 100 panel. The moderator was Jelena Radulović from the Summit 100 organization, and Melanie SeierLarsen and Tomislav Čorak from the Boston Consulting Group provided support for the discussion.
Five round tables discussed the topics of regional branding, circular economy, labor market, automotive industry, and renewable energy sources.
As the participants emphasized, the chance for regional branding and great potential lies in healthy food, agriculture, and tourism, and thus a proposal was made to form a test industry as a pilot project for joint appearance in other markets.
On a similar principle of combined forces, proposals were also presented within the topic of the circular economy, where it was emphasized that only by joining forces can existing resources be maximally utilized. Qualified labor, which can adapt old products to new market trends, was recognized as one of the most valuable resources.
Given that there is currently an imbalance in the labor market between what employers are looking for and what workers can offer, and the main problem is related to the education system which only offers opportunities for creating so-called "hard skills", one of the proposals was regional partnership through which companies would send their employees for additional training in another country.
Discussing the topic of the growing need for energy, it was concluded that it is necessary to increase energy efficiency and work on raising awareness about the rational use of energy resources. The proposal was therefore for the region to turn to renewable energy sources, through the use of hydro and solar potentials, while introducing uniform standards in the region.
The topic of the automotive industry was also interesting, within which it was concluded that the region should be capable of following the development trends of electric cars. The region has strong suppliers in this industry who could merge into one cluster, the panelists concluded and proposed the formation of a HUB that would offer innovative solutions competitive to the markets of Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania.
During today's part of the Summit 100 program, there will be discussions on new energy, inspiration and innovation, improving transport infrastructure and mobility within the region.
