Situation in the USA drastically worsening, Trump calls WHO 'China-centric'

(Patria) – US President Donald Trump criticized the World Health Organization, calling it 'China-centric' and biased towards China.

Trump stated that the WHO was 'wrong on many things' and threatened to withdraw financial support from the organization.

Trump has previously questioned reports from Chinese authorities about the infection situation there on several occasions, openly expressing doubt that the numbers seemed low, and continues to call the virus the 'Chinese virus', to which Beijing reacted sharply.

The US President's anger is fueled by the worsening situation in the USA, where the number of deaths and new infections is increasing by the minute.

In the federal state of New York, which is the most affected by the pandemic, 731 people died in a single day, while the total number of deaths in New York City alone is at least 3,544.

There are now more than 400,000 confirmed cases of infection in the USA, and 13,000 have lost their lives fighting the dangerous virus.

Worldwide, more than 1.4 million people are infected, and over 82,000 have died.

At the same time, in Great Britain, the country's Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is infected with the coronavirus, has spent his second night in intensive care, which speaks to the seriousness of his health status. The British government is considering the newly emerged situation in the context of the vacuum left by Johnson's illness, i.e., his replacement. For now, this is Foreign Minister Dominic Raab, who, however, needs the consent of the Prime Minister's cabinet for major decisions.

As the infection is spreading rapidly in Great Britain, it is feared that it will become the most affected country in Europe with more than 40% of deaths on the continent, writes The Guardian.

In Turkey too, the number of new cases is growing rapidly, even by 3,000 per day. Turkey has reported 30,217 cases of infection in just one month, but the number of deaths is comparatively lower than in other countries and stands at 649.
