Unprecedented floods hit Dubai: The entire city is underwater!

(Patria) - Heavy rain and thunderstorms created quite apocalyptic scenes in Dubai.

The sky turned green at one point, luxury cars are floating down streets in torrents of water, shoppers are fleeing a shopping center that began to fill with water.

At the same time, authorities issued a warning to citizens to stay at home, writes the Daily Mail.

The UAE's National Center for Meteorology announced that unstable weather conditions will continue in the region until Wednesday, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

Many areas of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, have been flooded.

Police and the army evacuated citizens in the most affected province of Ash Sharqiyah North.

Nearly 50 flights from Dubai have been canceled since this morning, but it is also impossible to travel on the main roads, where many got stuck in their luxury cars, which they were later forced to abandon.

Shoppers also had to leave underground shopping malls. A warning has also been issued to all residents - to be vigilant and stay away from flooded areas.

The adverse weather conditions were documented in hundreds of videos and photos posted on social media.

One influencer particularly attracted attention after filming himself stuck in his Rolls Royce because the road was suddenly flooded.

"My Rolls Royce is flooded and we are stuck in the middle of the road in Dubai. Just like all my crypto friends, I am underwater today," said entrepreneur Jordan Welch.

In another part of the city, a torrent of water was filmed flowing from the ceiling into shops and the Onpassive metro station, which was also flooded. Passengers waded barefoot through the water to get out.

The sky over Dubai darkened in the afternoon as lightning flashed, occasionally touching the top of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.

Authorities sent tankers to the streets to pump out water, but some areas recorded more than 80 millimeters of rain, approaching the annual average of about 100 millimeters.

Rain is not common in the UAE, but it occurs occasionally during the colder winter months. As a result, many roads lack drainage for flood situations.

The storms descended on Dubai, Bahrain, and the Qatar region after passing over Oman, where they caused deadly floods.

In Kuwait, the Meteorological Service also warned of approaching thunderstorms and advised the public to remain vigilant.
