New York for the victims of the Srebrenica genocide: We remember!

(Patria) - On the occasion of July 11 - the Day of the Genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica, in Astoria Park in Queens (NY), which stretches across from the famous Manhattan - NYC and the United Nations, and along the East River, surviving victims and descendants of genocide victims held a peaceful walk and, through a culture of remembrance, commemorated the Bosniak women and men who, in the bloody July of 1995, when they traversed mountain ridges enduring the ordeal of saving their bare lives from the Greater Serbian genocidal hordes that occupied the enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa, surviving victims testify that they walked more than 100 kilometers to find refuge in Kladanj and other free territories under the control of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The commemorative walk was also attended by Amra Hadžović, minister-counselor at the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations in New York.

From New York, the message is clear: we remember and do not forget the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica and Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Unfortunately, over ten thousand civilians were brutally killed, mostly boys and young men, their sisters, fathers, grandfathers, uncles, cousins… the youngest victim was Fatima Muhić, who was born on July 11, 1995, and immediately after birth, a Serbian criminal killed her. This must be known, talked about, remembered!!!

We remind you that in Srebrenica and Žepa there were more than 40,000 displaced persons from several towns in Podrinje, at the end of 1992 and the beginning of 1993. A humanitarian catastrophe threatened, and for this reason, the UN Security Council on April 16, 1993, adopted Resolution 819, declaring Srebrenica a “safe zone.” They then sent UNPROFOR forces under the “oath” to protect the “safe zone,” disarmed the ARBiH unit, only to betray the civilian population two years later, and after the betrayal and fall of Srebrenica, they left them to the Serbian bloodthirsty hordes to torment them.

The entire political and military leadership of the Bosnian Serbs was punished with life sentences and multi-year prison terms for the committed genocide. The Republic of Serbia was lightly punished for failing to prevent genocide, and today it is also a refuge for tens of thousands of Serbian criminals. The Prosecutor's Office and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina bear great responsibility for obstructing the prosecution of Serbian war criminals.

BHICNY calls on all citizens, friends, and fighters for the truth to continue together with the culture of remembrance and commemoration of the victims of the genocide - so that it is never forgotten!
