Unprecedented Vandalism in Split: 18 Cars Smashed at Multiple Locations

(Patria) - In Split, during the night from Friday to Saturday, large-scale vandalism occurred in which an unknown perpetrator, potentially more than one, damaged 18 cars.



The barbaric rampage was recorded in Brda, at two locations in Ravne Njive, and in Stinice, in the parking lot in front of Super Konzum.

From the Police Administration (PU) of Split-Dalmatia County, they say that intensive criminal investigations are being conducted in the field, which covers a wider urban area.

- The incidents occurred in the wider area of Brda and Ravne Njive, in several city districts where a broader team of police officers is conducting intensive criminal processing.

Until we discover the perpetrator, at least two police patrols will be constantly present in that area to, among other things, prevent new incidents of this type.

Only after discovering the perpetrator will the motives of the destructive campaign that disturbed our fellow citizens be known. Especially those who suffered material damage from the demolition of their vehicles - they point out from the PU of Split-Dalmatia County.



The first reports from citizens began arriving as early as the early Saturday morning hours, first from Hercegovačka Street in Ravne Njive, where six vehicles were damaged during the night in front of entrance 46.

From the PU of Split-Dalmatia County, they confirmed that around three hours after midnight, during the night from Friday to Saturday, they received a report that several parked vehicles had been damaged at that location.

During the investigation, damage was found on three cars in the form of cracks, i.e., fractures of the rear and front windshields.

On the remaining three, damage was recorded in the form of complete breakage of the front or rear window.

Shortly after that, information about the demolition of vehicles began arriving from several sides. Police officers on patrol also registered more damage, who then informed the owners.



Citizens testified that breakages occurred in the parking lot of the shopping center in Stinice, where vans with Split license plates and a vehicle belonging to a Polish citizen were damaged.

Residents of this location suspect that it is a retaliation against people who did not participate in the blockade of the shopping center, in whose parking lot the demolition occurred.

Information continued to arrive, damage was also done to parked vehicles on the public surface at Hercegovačka 30 and 32.

Soon, damage to vehicles near the pharmacy in Brda, just off Hercegovačka Street, was also heard. At that time, people began to speculate about the background of the Split vandal night at this city location.

- We from Hercegovačka Street still believe that the six smashed vehicles are the result of the actions of a madman, who is thus warning us to move away from the public surface he considers his own.



But we are also considering that it could be the work of a mentally ill person who started from the top of Hercegovačka Street and smashed things along the way as they felt - say the citizens.

Stories quickly spread through the city, and among the speculations are those related to a group of younger individuals, who, according to some, are behind the unusual wild night in Podmarjan.

The police are in the field, the results of the criminal investigation will show what actually happened.
